How my journey began

Singing and performing are two of my great loves. I enjoy more than anything being able to share my interpretation of a song with an audience, be it on stage singing an operatic aria, classical solo or something a bit more contemporary - or just around the house singing and dancing with my family.

I have been singing for as long as I can remember, however I started formal training with Margaret Harvison Vocal Studio in 2001. During my time with the studio, I competed in the Mackay and North Queensland Eisteddfods, completed Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB) exams and was a part of a number of studio performances. After Miss Harvison’s retirement in 2013, I continued my studies with Nicole Thomson.

In the 2022 Mackay Eisteddfod, I was awarded the Friends of the Conservatorium Encouragement Award for Most Deserving Vocal Competitor in the Open Section. I was also awarded two second places, three third places and three highly commended places in eight out of the ten sections I entered.

I am an active member in a number of singing groups in Mackay. I joined the Mackay Choral Society in 2012 and was invited to become a part of Tutti Vocal Ensemble the same year. In 2021, I also became a foundation member of local octet The Tone Rangers.

In 2023, I had the privilege of being cast as Mabel in the Mackay Choral Society’s production of Pirates of Penzance. In 2024, I was invited to conduct the Mackay Children’s Chorus for the Mackay Choral Society’s final concert of the year, A Glorious Christmas.

I am currently working toward my Licentiate of Trinity College London Music Performance Diploma, a goal I began pursuing in 2022.

Though my career began in the automotive industry, I’ve learned many transferable skills and developed a strong passion for helping others. This has led to a deeper interest in mentoring and improving the skills of those around me. I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to stand on their own feet. Having benefited from the guidance of incredible mentors myself, I find great joy in passing on my knowledge to others and helping them grow. I also enjoy the challenge of problem-solving, particularly when it comes to making someone's day a little brighter.

On a personal note, I’ve passed my love of music and performance on to my two daughters, who started dance lessons at 18 months old and continue to enjoy their weekly routine. My eldest daughter has even attended singing rehearsals and joined me on stage as part of the Mackay Children’s Chorus. It’s a true joy to share this experience with them.
